Why I Tell Sellers the Truth About Home Prices
Published August 30, 2026
If you're getting ready to sell a home in Chicagoland or Northwest Indiana, this quick insight explains why an honest pricing conversation matters more than a flattering number. Some agents will quote a high listing price just to win your business, but that strategy often backfires with stalled showings, frustration, and price reductions weeks later.
A realistic view from day one
Tyler Burlison takes a different approach. At the listing appointment, he gives sellers a realistic, market-based view of their home's value from day one, even when it's not the number they were hoping for. That upfront honesty sets the right expectations before the home ever hits the market, so sellers can make informed decisions about pricing strategy instead of reacting to disappointment mid-listing.
Honesty before you list
The goal isn't to tell you what sounds good, it's to set you up for a smooth, successful sale in today's Chicagoland real estate market. Having that honest conversation early is far easier than course-correcting after weeks on the market with a price that never should have been set that high in the first place. If you're thinking about selling a home in Chicagoland or Northwest Indiana and want a straightforward read on your home's value, Tyler Burlison with eXp Realty is ready to have that honest conversation with you.
